I love baseball. But it can be frustrating. Baseball is a metaphor for life. Teamwork, Pain, Struggle, Frustration, and Euphoric Happiness are all part of the deal. And such is life.
Baseball games take a long time. Sometimes they don't get finished in a single day. Or month. (think the Pine Tar game between the KC Royals and NY Yankees). And such is life.
Life is hard. And long. Long days, lonely nights, and solitude in the midst of many. When you are at bat, it's just you and the pitcher. And such is life. You walk this journey with friends and family (or teammates) but in the final analysis, it's the decisions you alone make that determine your direction.
The baseball seasons are 162 games long. That's 6 months of baseball. Ask any major league player and they'll tell you it feels like much longer than that with the bruises, aches and pains their bodies are feeling by the end of the season. The average man lives to be 82 and woman to 79. That's a lot of living and along the way you encounter a lot of bruises, aches, and pains.
But like baseball, who wants to have it any other way? No one.
